Narrow Gauge Steam Engine Tx26
About the Narrow Gauge Steam Engine TX 26 including pictures of such an engine that is at the Maltanka Park in Malta (Just outside Poznan) Poland.
There are two types of narrow gauge locomotives designated TX 28.
The types are W1A and W2A.
The type WIA was the first narrow gauge locomotives built in Poland There were only two W1A type locomotives built. The current designations are TX26–422 and TX26–423.
The 0-8-0 tank locomotive Tx26-423, is displayed at Maltanka station. It was built in Chrzanow in 1926 and worked on the Jedrzejow system while that was 600mm gauge, and then on the Jarocin District Railway until withdrawal in 1978.
One of the locomotives from the Pinczow railway, Tx26-422, was the first narrow gauge steam locomotive built in Poland. After conversion of the Jedrzejow system to 750mm gauge it was transferred to the Bydgoszcz system and is now in the museum at Wenecja.
The type W2A was ordered by the Ministry of Military Affairs. It did not fair well and subsequent orders were not placed. That engine, designated Tx26-427, is in the Open Air Museum rolling stock and railway equipment in Chabowka.
